<image:title>Studio Art - Sister 1/2</image:title>
<image:caption>This painting was inspired by Pia Fries, a Swiss painter, who used motion and a lot of paint any just about anything besides a paint brush to create her works. I see it as the act of play.</image:caption>
</image:image>
<image:image>
<image:loc>https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/579ad9d66b8f5b8f495c1eff/1562736240243-VWNYYX6IY4YZY0WI2LXA/2.jpg</image:loc>
<image:title>Studio Art - Sister 2/2</image:title>
<image:caption>I called this pair Sisters because the top left of this painting was made up of dried paint I scraped off of my pallet when working on the first painting. there is also three lines of paint covered tape that was on the first painting as well and I thought to myself that this means they are related.</image:caption>
</image:image>

<image:title>Studio Art - The Mad Astronomer</image:title>
<image:caption>24x24 Oil, vine charcoal, and sawdust on Canvas. This started out as an extremely abstract piece with just the red and yellow orbs in the middle. after countless classes of not know what to do next, I decided it was time to cover up the main focus and just go for it. Thus the scientist was born.</image:caption>

<image:title>Studio Art - Holy Grail Study</image:title>
<image:caption>16x16 Acrylic on Canvas Panel. One of our assignments was to paint using anything but a brush and this was the study we did. We started painting a vase and then we were set free. Once I added the orange and yellow light rays at the top, I decided it was the Holy Grail.</image:caption>

<image:title>Studio Art - Cubist Painting</image:title>
<image:caption>This painting we were challenged to paint like cubist. seeing multiple angles at once and mashing everything together. I really enjoyed this one.</image:caption>

<image:title>Studio Art - Invade</image:title>
<image:caption>16x20 Acrylic and screen print on canvas. This was just some fun I was having brushing colors on a canvas. At the same time I was working on a shirt for my club and decided to just screen print on top of it because I knew I could get some more use out of that screen.</image:caption>

<image:title>Studio Art - Self Portrait</image:title>
<image:caption>16x20 Oil on Canvas. Well its no Rembrandt but I did learn a lot. We were challenged to do a self portrait using a mirror and I immediately failed. I had to print out a photo of myself and grid it on but thats ok. I also learned how to mix better because my first go at this painting I looked like a tomato. I might go back and change the background at some point.</image:caption>

<image:caption>18x24 Oil on Canvas. In this assignment we were tasked with creating an Alla Prima in one class sitting, about three hours, and I could not do it. I was already in a horrible mood that day and have to take one more day to finish it. I still learned a lot from it and I think it turned out nice.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Acrylic on Panel. This was my first acrylic painting and we had to paint 165 unique colors and write down the percentage of paint used in each color. This was exhausting.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Leg 12x21 Arm 3.5x15.5 Plaster cast of my leg and arm in a shaving position. This represents my current mindset in terms of beauty. You can choose what beauty is and I feel like shaving is one of those decisions that really represents these feelings. So the trees represent hair and are beautiful and colorful while the rose quartz crystals are a shaven side of the leg. Rose quartz also has a significance in meaning self love.</image:caption>

<image:caption>16x20 screen printed images on advertisements on cut up pizza boxes. Going back to my feelings in middle school, this represents how I exist with advertisements with hints to Andy Warhol’s pop art. Notice the colors are just black along with two other colors.</image:caption>

<image:caption>16x20 Screen printed images on advertisements with more screen printing on a separated sheet of plastic being held in front with four wooden skewers on each corner. This image represent how the people around me also impacted how I felt. Skinny girls calling themselves fat. Girls wearing makeup and cute clothes calling themselves ugly. It was a toxic time and this is also when being trendy with clothes and makeup had more of an impact. Notice the tri tone colors are still here but are changing. there is also a separation between the other girls and me until they conform in the next image.</image:caption>

<image:caption>16x20 Screen printed images on receipt with more screen printing on a separated sheet of plastic being held in front with four wooden skewers on each corner. In the third print is different from the other two with the background having receipts instead of advertisements. This is almost the aftermath of all the exposure. Notice how the color in the screen printing is a mix of colors and no longer solid. This is the confusion of how I felt as a kid. Was I beautiful if I bought everything that was being shoved in my face? There is also a separation between myself and myself vs. the first image which is whole.</image:caption>

<image:caption>22x38 printed photo with screen printing and globs of ink smushed into the top portion using a palette knife. it is framed with all things “girly” glued around it. This final piece is all about consumption and anxiety I felt while growing up and still feel today. I think my favorite part of this piece is the mirror that says “I heart you” and is almost interactive as you see yourself in it as well.</image:caption>

<image:title>New Page - Women and Advertisments</image:title>
<image:caption>One of my original idea for the advertisements was going to have specific ads that felt like they were “made for women” but I wanted the first ad covered image to be pop arty with the four colors.</image:caption>

<image:title>New Page - Sketch</image:title>
<image:caption>I came up with this idea in my junior year and sketched it out bigger this year to flush out the idea more. I also had the idea of having short patches of grass starting the shaved area but I like the contrast of the white and it wouldn’t make sense to have there be grass when the cleared area would be crystals.</image:caption>

<image:title>New Page - Mock Up</image:title>
<image:caption>This was the first photograph mock up of the large framed print. Originally there was going to be thought bubbles at the top but I was working as a gallery attendant and the Van Gogh spoke to me and I decided to go with a plethora of color put on with a palette knife instead.</image:caption>

<image:title>New Page - Mock up: POP</image:title>

<image:title>New Page - Screen Print Color Test</image:title>

<image:title>New Page - Messy Screen</image:title>

<image:title>New Page - Frames</image:title>
<image:caption>originally I bought three frames all the same size and used the cardboard backing as the base of my works. One of my professors asked me what was the intention of the frame and I didn’t even think of it. I just knew artwork was framed but in the end I got rid of them, hacked up some pizza boxes and added sides to them which ended up working in my favor to some extent.</image:caption>

<image:title>New Page - Plastic Printing</image:title>
<image:caption>The frames came with a plastic covering to protect what ever photo you put in the frame but I used it for the second and third pieces and screen printed on top of them.</image:caption>

<image:image>
<image:loc>https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/579ad9d66b8f5b8f495c1eff/1562726668811-7F9S3IXZ2C5T6WSGGWSB/18.jpeg</image:loc>

<image:title>New Page - First Critique</image:title>
<image:caption>My first critique included the three framed peices you see in the final, a leg too big to use, and arm not ready to be hanged, an idea of the large photograph, and a possible fourth image including myself. A lot changed sense then and I love seeing the progression.</image:caption>

<image:title>New Page - Siding</image:title>
<image:caption>Sense I decided against the frames, I used pizza boxes as the sides of these three panels. Thankfully I belonged to a video game club that ordered way to many pizzas.</image:caption>

<image:title>New Page - Final Placement</image:title>
<image:caption>I took four skewers and put the through each corner of the box. I then slid on a piece of orange pipping to create a stopping point for the plastic. I VERY CAREFULLY drilled holes into the cheap plastic and glued them onto the pegs. the orange stoppers helped create a floating and separation between the panel and the plastic. A huge thank you to Patrice for lending me her drill for a very long time, helping me problem solve, and picking up supplies for me.</image:caption>

<image:title>New Page - Standing Leg</image:title>
<image:caption>One of my classmates Austin knows how to weld so he helped me by welding a armature to put inside the mold which he then welded to a 12x12 sheet of metal. He also drilled and welded a loop so that my arm could hand from the ceiling. Thank you Austin, without you I couldn’t have seen this project through.</image:caption>

<image:title>New Page - Start of the Carve and the Growing of Trees</image:title>
<image:caption>once the leg had a base, I carved a pattern into the leg and crushed up the rose quartz to fit into the crevices. on the other side I drilled into the leg, thanks again Patrice, and glued diorama trees into the holes.</image:caption>

<image:title>New Page - Casting Leg</image:title>
<image:caption>This leg took me a few tries to get. One time the bottom broke open and I had a minor melt down. Thank you AJ for coming with me on every journey to Silpak to get more supplies and being with me every time I sunk my leg into gunk.</image:caption>

<image:title>New Page - AJ Trippy</image:title>
<image:caption>This was the photo I used of AJ for the large framed print. I used a technique in photoshop I had learned to make images 3D and just changed the colors from red and blue to this. It turned out to be a happy accident.</image:caption>

<image:title>New Page - Announcement</image:title>
<image:caption>This was our flyer announcement for our group show. I am so proud of all the seniors I got to work with. I had classes with a lot of them and our bond strengthened over the years. A big thank you to everyone who participated and to the professors who gave me such wisdom in my four years.</image:caption>

<image:title>Senior Project - Make it stand out</image:title>
<image:caption>Wumbology was my senior project show along with other art majors that were graduating in the spring of 2019. Below are photos of the final works I created and after are images of the creation processes.</image:caption>

<image:title>Senior Project - To have Crystals or a Forest?</image:title>
<image:caption>Leg 12x21 Arm 3.5x15.5 Plaster cast of my leg and arm in a shaving position. This represents my current mindset in terms of beauty. You can choose what beauty is and I feel like shaving is one of those decisions that really represents these feelings. So the trees represent hair and are beautiful and colorful while the rose quartz crystals are a shaven side of the leg. Rose quartz also has a significance in meaning self love.</image:caption>
</image:image>

<image:loc>https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/579ad9d66b8f5b8f495c1eff/1735595201979-FAW5X1GWQDRS23O3OMYN/3.jpg</image:loc>
<image:title>Senior Project - Surrounded</image:title>
<image:caption>16x20 Screen printed images on advertisements with more screen printing on a separated sheet of plastic being held in front with four wooden skewers on each corner. This image represent how the people around me also impacted how I felt. Skinny girls calling themselves fat. Girls wearing makeup and cute clothes calling themselves ugly. It was a toxic time and this is also when being trendy with clothes and makeup had more of an impact. Notice the tri tone colors are still here but are changing. there is also a separation between the other girls and me until they conform in the next image.</image:caption>
</image:image>

<image:title>Senior Project - Impression</image:title>
<image:caption>16x20 screen printed images on advertisements on cut up pizza boxes. Going back to my feelings in middle school, this represents how I exist with advertisements with hints to Andy Warhol’s pop art. Notice the colors are just black along with two other colors.</image:caption>
</image:image>
<image:image>
<image:loc>https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/579ad9d66b8f5b8f495c1eff/1735595201910-F3XZTJTRUA3PII2HSHU4/4.jpg</image:loc>
<image:title>Senior Project - Mirror</image:title>
<image:caption>16x20 Screen printed images on receipt with more screen printing on a separated sheet of plastic being held in front with four wooden skewers on each corner. In the third print is different from the other two with the background having receipts instead of advertisements. This is almost the aftermath of all the exposure. Notice how the color in the screen printing is a mix of colors and no longer solid. This is the confusion of how I felt as a kid. Was I beautiful if I bought everything that was being shoved in my face? There is also a separation between myself and myself vs. the first image which is whole.</image:caption>

<image:title>Senior Project - Consumption & Anxiety</image:title>
<image:caption>22x38 printed photo with screen printing and globs of ink smushed into the top portion using a palette knife. it is framed with all things “girly” glued around it. This final piece is all about consumption and anxiety I felt while growing up and still feel today. I think my favorite part of this piece is the mirror that says “I heart you” and is almost interactive as you see yourself in it as well.</image:caption>

<image:title>Senior Project - First Critique</image:title>
<image:caption>My first critique included the three framed peices you see in the final, a leg too big to use, and arm not ready to be hanged, an idea of the large photograph, and a possible fourth image including myself. A lot changed sense then and I love seeing the progression.</image:caption>

<image:title>Senior Project - Women and Advertisments</image:title>
<image:caption>One of my original idea for the advertisements was going to have specific ads that felt like they were “made for women” but I wanted the first ad covered image to be pop arty with the four colors.</image:caption>

<image:title>Senior Project - Orignial Concept Sketch</image:title>
<image:caption>I came up with this idea in my junior year and sketched it out bigger this year to flush out the idea more. orginally it was in the margins of some school work. I also had the idea of having short patches of grass starting the shaved area but I like the contrast of the white and it wouldn’t make sense to have there be grass when the cleared area would be crystals.</image:caption>

<image:title>Senior Project - C&A Mock Up</image:title>
<image:caption>This was the first photograph mock up of the large framed print. Originally there was going to be thought bubbles at the top but I was working as a gallery attendant and the Van Gogh spoke to me and I decided to go with a plethora of color put on with a palette knife instead.</image:caption>

<image:title>Senior Project - Plastic Printing</image:title>

<image:title>Senior Project - Frames</image:title>
<image:caption>Originally I bought three frames all the same size and used the cardboard backing as the base of my works. One of my professors asked me what was the intention of the frame and I didn’t even think of it. I just knew artwork was framed but in the end I got rid of them, hacked up some pizza boxes and added sides to them which ended up working in my favor to some extent</image:caption>

<image:title>Senior Project - AJ Trippy</image:title>
<image:caption>This was the photo I used of AJ for the large framed print. I used a technique in photoshop I had learned to make images 3D and just changed the colors from red and blue to this. It turned out to be a happy accident.</image:caption>

<image:title>Senior Project - Casting Leg</image:title>
<image:caption>Using a Sonotube and hot glueing cardboard to the bottom and filling this tube with alginate. I then stuck my leg in and waiting about 8 minuets for it to cure, I removed my leg and filled it with plaster. This leg took me a few tries to get. One time the bottom broke open and I had a minor melt down. Thank you AJ for coming with me on every journey to Silpak to get more supplies and being with me every time I sunk my leg into gunk.</image:caption>

<image:title>Senior Project - Standing Leg</image:title>
<image:caption>One of my classmates Austin knows how to weld so he helped me by welding a armature to put inside the mold which he then welded to a 12x12 sheet of metal. He also drilled and welded a loop so that my arm could hand from the ceiling. Thank you Austin, without you I couldn’t have seen this project through.</image:caption>

<image:title>Senior Project - Carving Rock and Planting Trees</image:title>
<image:caption>Once the leg had a base, I carved a pattern into the leg and crushed up the rose quartz to fit into the crevices. on the other side I drilled into the leg, thanks again Patrice, and glued diorama trees into the holes.</image:caption>

<image:title>Senior Project - Final Placement</image:title>
<image:caption>I took four skewers and put the through each corner of the box. I then slid on a piece of orange pipping to create a stopping point for the plastic. I VERY CAREFULLY drilled holes into the cheap plastic and glued them onto the pegs. the orange stoppers helped create a floating and separation between the panel and the plastic. A huge thank you to Patrice for lending me her drill for a very long time, helping me problem solve, and picking up supplies for me.</image:caption>
